MIGRATE FROM BUBBLE

Leaving Bubble
means rebuilding.

Bubble says its apps can only run on the Bubble platform, and there’s no code to export. Your data can come with you, and your app becomes the blueprint for a rebuild. We’ll tell you plainly whether that’s worth doing.

WHAT MOVES

What comes with you,
and what gets rebuilt.

Bubble says you own your app’s design and the data your users upload, and that it owns the underlying code that runs the app.

Comes with you

EXPORTABLE
  • Database records, as CSV, JSON or NDJSON
  • Larger data sets, read with scripts through the Bubble API
  • Your design, as a reference for the new build
  • Your workflows, as the specification for the new logic

Gets rebuilt

NO CODE EXPORT
  • Application logic and workflows
  • Pages and responsive layouts
  • Plugins, replaced with libraries or direct integrations
  • Sign-in, with a plan for moving existing users
THE BUBBLE CATCH

Three things to
weigh first.

A rebuild is a bigger decision than a migration. These are the questions we go through with you before anyone quotes a number.

Is moving the right call?

If Bubble still does the job, staying can be the better business decision. A rebuild makes sense when cost, performance, ownership or hiring is a real constraint, and we’ll say so if yours isn’t.

Plugins hide complexity

Each plugin is functionality someone has to replace. Complex workflows and plugin-heavy apps are often bigger than they look from the outside, so we review them before we quote.

Data exports have quirks

Bubble exports share a queue with scheduled workflows, so they can be delayed, and date intervals export as descriptive text rather than the stored value. We check types and counts at the destination.

THE PATH

How a Bubble
rebuild usually runs.

This is how we expect a rebuild to run once we support this platform. You’ll see the findings and approve the scope and quote before paying anything.

01

Decide if a rebuild makes sense

We review your data, workflows, plugins and users, along with why you want to leave, and give you a straight answer.

02

Turn the app into a specification

Screens, workflows and rules are written down, and we agree what must carry over and what can be simplified.

03

Build on a standard stack

The new app is built in code you own, on the host you choose, with the data model designed around your exported records.

04

Load the data and cut over

A final export is loaded and verified, users are brought across as agreed, and the domain moves over when you’re ready.

BUBBLE QUESTIONS

Before you
decide.

Ask a question
Can I export my Bubble app as code?

No. Bubble’s documentation says apps can’t be exported as code and can only run on the Bubble platform. If you move off Bubble, the application logic has to be rebuilt.

Why doesn’t the $199 rate apply?

The $199 migration moves an app’s existing code and database. A Bubble app has no code to move, so the work is a rebuild, and that’s quoted once we’ve reviewed your app. See how pricing works.

Will my users keep their passwords?

Plan on a password reset unless we can establish otherwise for your app. Bubble’s data export documentation doesn’t address passwords, so we confirm the options during scoping and help you plan what your users are told.

Can I rebuild only part of it?

Sometimes. A partial rebuild can make sense if one part of the app is the real constraint. Tell us what’s driving the move and we’ll look at whether a smaller step would solve it.
