MIGRATE FROM BASE44

Leaving Base44 takes
more than the code.

Base44 lets you export your code, but that code still calls Base44 for data, logins and backend functions. We replace all of it with your own database, sign-in and backend, so your app runs fully on its own. It’s all included in the flat $199.

Every Base44 web app is a flat $199, code and database included. Order online in a few minutes, and we’ll be in touch within 1 business day to get started. Most migrations are done in 3–5 business days once we have access. Scope & payment details.

WHAT MOVES

What exports,
and what stays behind.

Base44 documents two code routes, GitHub sync and a ZIP export, both on the Builder plan and above. Neither carries your records, users or secrets.

Usually moves

EXPORTABLE
  • A standard React project built with Vite
  • Your front-end code and backend functions
  • Your data structure: fields and permissions for each table
  • Table records, exported separately as CSV files

We handle these too

NOT IN THE EXPORT
  • App users and secrets, which Base44 says stay in Base44
  • The data, login, function and integration calls made through the Base44 SDK
  • Backend functions, which are written to run on Base44’s hosted Deno runtime
  • Version history, which is not included in a ZIP export (your app moves as it is today)
THE BASE44 CATCH

Three things that
trip up a move.

None of these make leaving impossible. They’re why our Base44 migrations start with an audit rather than a deploy.

Exported code isn’t independent

Base44 says exported code run elsewhere still gets those features from Base44, using your live app’s data. It also says it doesn’t support self-hosting, so running fully outside means replacing those parts with your own backend.

Test runs can touch live data

Base44’s remote dev mode runs your front end against the hosted backend, and writes go to production data. We test against a separate copy, so checking the migration can’t change your live records.

Filters shrink your data export

Tables export one at a time, and an active search or filter limits the file to matching records. We check row counts against the source so nothing goes missing quietly.

THE PATH

How a Base44
move usually runs.

Once you’ve placed your order and paid, we agree a start date with you. Your current app stays available during preparation and testing. We agree any pause needed for the final data transfer before switching traffic.

01

Audit every Base44 call

We list each use of the SDK across auth, entities, functions and integrations, so the size of the job is known rather than guessed.

02

Set up the replacement backend

A database, sign-in and server functions on the host you chose, with your Base44 functions adapted to run there.

03

Move the data and plan for users

Records are exported, loaded and counted. Because users stay in Base44, we agree how they’ll get back in, which can mean a password reset or a new sign-in provider.

04

Prove it runs without Base44

We remove Base44 credentials from a test environment, verify the core workflows, and only then plan the cutover.

BASE44 QUESTIONS

Before you
decide.

Ask a question
How much will my Base44 migration cost?

Every Base44 web app is a flat $199, including both the code and the database, whatever its size. You can add the AI builder workspace for $149 when you order. Mobile apps are quoted separately. See what’s included.

Which Base44 plan do I need?

Base44 lists both GitHub sync and ZIP export on the Builder plan and above. If you’re on a lower plan, you may need to upgrade for long enough to get the code out. We’ll check this with you before we start.

Will my users have to sign up again?

Base44 says app users aren’t included in the export, so we can’t promise a move your users won’t notice. We’ll explain the realistic options for your app before we start, including what your users would need to do.

Should I delete my Base44 app afterwards?

Not straight away. Keep it available until the new app has run in production long enough for you to trust it, so you have a way back.
