Back up and take inventory
We confirm an independent production backup, then list the secrets, storage, connectors and runtime requirements your app has.
Replit gives you conventional code and a PostgreSQL database, which makes it one of the friendlier starting points. The risks are copying the wrong database, losing late writes, and forgetting what never copies across.
Every Replit web app is a flat $199, code and database included. Order online in a few minutes, and we’ll be in touch within 1 business day to get started. Most migrations are done in 3–5 business days once we have access. Scope & payment details.
Replit’s guide for copying a project covers code and data as separate steps, using GitHub or a zip and standard PostgreSQL tools. It’s written for moves between Replit workspaces, and the tools work the same elsewhere.
These aren’t unusual problems. They’re the small assumptions that cause trouble on the day of a cutover.
Replit’s DATABASE_URL points to the development database, while live data is usually in production. Exporting without changing it copies test data and looks like it worked.
Anything written after the dump runs isn’t in the copy. Replit advises unpublishing the old app before the final dump, so we schedule that step with you and keep it short.
Replit has described a 2025 incident where an AI agent deleted a customer’s database data, which was restored by rollback. It has since added stronger safeguards. We take an independent backup before any move, whichever platform you’re on.
Once you’ve placed your order and paid, we agree a start date with you. Your current app keeps running until the new one is proven.

The code goes into a repository you control, and we confirm it builds and starts on your chosen host outside Replit.
We restore a copy of production data to the new database and verify it, so the real cutover isn’t the first attempt.
The old app is unpublished, the last dump is restored, secrets and domains are set, and the core workflows are checked.
Compared with many builders, usually yes, because it uses standard code and PostgreSQL. Details still depend on each project’s runtime and services, which we check when you send your app details.
Plan for a maintenance window during the final copy. Replit advises taking the old app offline so no new writes are missed. The length depends on your data and deployment, so we rehearse the move and agree the timing with you.
A database dump is a full copy of your data, so it shouldn’t be committed to Git. Replit advises deleting it from both projects and your device once the copy is done, and we treat it the same way.
